Rosacea
A chronic inflammatory condition that causes facial flushing, visible capillaries (telangiectasia), and in some cases acne-like bumps. Often worsened by sun, heat, spicy food, or alcohol.
Seborrheic Dermatitis
A common cause of redness and flaking around the nose, eyebrows, ears, and scalp. It’s linked to excess oil and a skin yeast imbalance.
Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis)
Can cause red, inflamed patches, especially in sensitive skin areas. Often triggered by allergens or stress.
Contact Dermatitis
An allergic or irritant reaction to skincare products, detergents, or environmental exposure that leads to redness, itching, or burning.
Sun Damage
Chronic sun exposure can cause broken blood vessels, rough texture, and persistent redness, particularly on the cheeks and nose.
Lupus or Other Autoimmune Conditions
Facial redness or “butterfly rashes” can be a sign of underlying autoimmune disease and should be professionally evaluated.
Other Causes
Redness can also result from acne, flushing disorders, medications, infections, or cosmetic treatments like peels or lasers if not properly managed.
